Who is it for?
Homecoming is for all Alumni, this year the honour years are 1939, 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989 and 1999. This means that if your last year at Avondale was one of these years, this is your chance to meet classmates and friends and celebrate (or commiserate) together. (Please note that students from other years are still welcome to join in.) It's a rather scary thought that it is 10, 20, 25, 30, 40 or more years since the heady days of college.
Homecomings are a highlight of the year for Alumni and we encourage you to make the most of this opportunity.
Homecoming is for graduates and non-graduates alike. Most who come, even if they do so with some fear and uncertainty because of the hair they have lost or the weight they have gained or their divorce or health problems, are surprised beyond belief at the almost instant recognition and acceptance by everyone else. The magic of Avondale lives on and memories of former times are quickly revived, providing plenty of laughs (and tears) as each realizes how very special the time spent together at Avondale really was.
How To Be Invited
If you regularly receive Reflections magazine, we must have your current correct address and you will receive a personal invitation from the host of your honour year. If we don't have your current address, you might like to email it to
homecoming@avondale.edu.au and we will pass it on to your Homecoming host.
We look forward to having you on campus. It really is worth the time, every time.
